Between the Dream and the Dawn

I lie awake at night and think of you

I reject the suns rays, close my eyes, and visit you

Knocking on the door of my cortex

Waiting for you to let me in

You stole the keys

So I look for a window

You took up residence in my head

Squatting on my retina

Suffocating my corneas

I can’t unsee you

Yet you refuse to see me

Well I refuse to be blind

I can’t block you out

I won’t black you out

I’ll just wait

And wait

The weight is heavy

But I’ve been going to the gym
