Ode 12

My thoughts are running a mile a minute

But they can’t keep up with your pace

My memory is photographic

but I can’t quite see your face

You never sent your location

But indeed I know my place

It’s by your side

My toes are gnarled and twisted from tripping over you

But my neuropathy helps me not to feel it

My fingers are swollen from endless typing

But you’re not ready to heal it

My elbows are stiff from the lack of embracing you

But WD-40 didn’t make the list

This time

around

Just around the riverbend is a waterfall

That runs into the sea

There drifts my heart in the open ocean

Please send a raft for me
